Virgin and Child, anonymous, c. 1400 - c. 1424 Canvas Print

Mary stands on a ground on the left leg and with the right one bent; she holds the tors body somewhat back, opposite to the head, which tends towards the child. Her gaze turns to the seated child, placed on her left arm in profile. It holds its right thumb under the band closure of her cloak and has in the left hand a bird that pecks in its thumb, by the wing. Mary holds off her curved right arm slightly. She wears a veil on the wavy hair, which disappears into the upright collar of the spacious robe, which falls down over the feet. The robe with wide flared sleeves is held together under the chest by a wide, ribbed belt. From the shoulders hangs the cloak that falls open from the front, which is held together at the top by a band with brush. The child wears a tunic with a raised collar and with also wide sleeves; a foot sticks out briefly under the tunic.
