Vuursteenpistool, anonymous, 1660 - 1665 Canvas Print
Part of a couple. The castle is engraved with blossom branches and a bird; the lock plate extends into a point and bears an inscription. The barrel is equipped with a ring and a tromp ring; stamped on the bottom MIM and initials I and R on either side of a rosette under a crown. The flask of palm wood is simply cut; the handle ends in a cob bud of solid ivory, cut all around like a flower; the palm wood and ivory are separated from each other by an ebony band; the front drawer is equipped with a hood of dark cow horn; the left side of the handle is branded with a mark in the form of two curved fish above the stamped number 13 on 113-A and 14 on 113-B. The iron fitting consists of a short baton sleeve, a tractor bracket forked at the front with a panel and on 113-A with a round, yellow copper plate stamped with the number 503; the loading stick has a cow horn hood, matching that of the front drawer.
