The photo was taken from the stone mountain of the Maurits State Mine in Geleen-Lutterade. The photo shows, among other things, from left to right, from the soldier's back: the contact sulphuric acid factory from 1939, the sulphuric acid factory from 1930, the nitrate factory 1 from 1932 (the building with the four chimneys), the nitrate factory 2 still under construction from 1940 (the tall building behind the high stone chimney, where a construction crane is visible) , and before that the cogeneration plant with the corresponding chimney.
