French nobleman in a short cloak that he holds under his arm on one side, over an embroidered doublet. Wide collar trimmed with lace, knee pants and boots with wide covers. Hat with plumes on the hair that hangs down on one side in a long strand (cadenette). In his right hand he holds an open medallion, in which a portrait of a woman and a heart pierced with arrow: a reference to his state of infatuation. The tombstone next to him, refers to his state as a widower. (See Join-Lambert and Préaud, p. 96) In the background a castle with moat.
