William I, Prince of Orange, Lying in State, Hendrick de Keyser (I), 1613 - 1614 Canvas Print

Model for the reclining figure of the mausoleum in the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft. The prince lies fully clothed with head and shoulders on two large pillows; he has closed his eyes. The arms lie limply along his body, the shod feet resting against the back of his dog. He wears a nightcap, legged collar and a half-open doublet and shorts. Over it a tabbard lined with fur, opened, opened at the closing from top to bottom with buttons, and with long, through two slits, three-piece sleeves. From the upper part of the sleeve, the longitudinal slit of which is closed with buttons, emerges the sleeve of the doublet, which lies on the fur-lined sleeve of the tabbard. This shows a bag-shaped opening at the height of the right hip and a small slit at the right foot. Cuffs turned over at the wrists.
