Witten Wonder Spiegel, 1675, Romeyn de Hooghe, 1675 Canvas Print
Print from 1675 looking back on the rise and fall of the De Witt brothers. Central to the print is the portrait of the two men in front of a burnt offering from which a fenix rises. Around this sixteen smaller representations of the most important events in the life of Johan and Cornelis de Witt. The print includes the text sheet 'Op en Ondergangh der Heeren Cornelis en Jan de Wit.' (see inv.nr. RP-P-OB-67.710). The print is the pendant of the Romeyn de Hooghes 'Orangien Wonderspiegel' (FM 2304), also from 1675.
